Epiphany

Had an epiphany of sorts, while reading The Writer’s Journey, by Christopher Vogler.

My life, in so many ways, symbolizes abandonment, the theme for nearly every (meaningful?) event in my history.

One thing I learned from my brother, Roger (and he in turn learned in counseling) was, that we absorbed an idea as little boys: we felt because of our mother’s death we had been abandoned.

Compounded even more by being “adopted out” of our biological family.

My epiphany is that, I now abandon “things” before they can abandon me (Roger’s epiphany shared with me).

Family, projects, jobs, story writing, college, relationships, social situations.

With a closer examination revealing even more areas of my life suffering losses as a result of this deeply embedded psychological wound.

Regardless, always feeling hopeful...
